Priced out in Lincoln: How the capital city became the state’s hardest place to afford a home
I want to bring to everyone's attention an article that was just published by the Flatwater Free Press (Emily Wolf and Destiny Herbers) and picked up by 10/11 NOW KOLN/KGIN. Above is the link.
The article details how Lincoln, Nebraska has become one of the hardest places in Nebraska to afford a home.
I want to ensure the voters in Lincoln's District 4 understand that my opponent, Carina McCormick, in 2023 was a driving force voting to INCREASE your Property Taxes by 40% and DEFENDED her position on 40% Property Tax INCREASE.
McCormick CAN GO AFTER YOUR PROPERTY TAXES STILL.....if there are budget shortfalls - and there likely will be in the future with Nebraska being approximately $208 Million in deficit - and a 70% Board of Governors vote, they can reinstitute their levying power.
Also, McCormick rents an apartment and per her website, "hosts porch parties" to bring the community together. I'm not sure what all that means, but I don't understand why McCormick thinks she has the right to vote to increase Property Owners' taxes by 40% when she doesn't pay Property Taxes herself!! And, in my humble opinion, drinking wine on her porch on a Friday evening does not constitute a way to "pull together the community", thank you very much.
So, please don't get comfortable just yet because LB243 passed. You are NOT safe from McCormick who wants to spend YOUR money as SHE sees fit whether it prices you out of your home or not.
